To coincide with The Inner Flow of Life, Giuseppe Penone’s solo exhibition at the National Museum of Qatar, Doha also welcomes Idee di pietra (2004-2010), the artist’s new permanent installation. The sculpture, consisting of two bronze trees with stones set at the intersections of the branches and numerous stones on the ground, comes to Doha's Old Port as an integral part of the landscape, following its Serpentine’s exhibition in London's Kensington Gardens

The Inner Flow of Life is the new Giuseppe Penone’s solo exhibition at the Baraha and Old Palace, National Museum of Qatar in Doha, curated by Hans Ulrich Obrist and Issa Al Shirawi. The exhibition will feature works created from 1969 to today and will unfold across five custom-built pavilions, each dedicated to a material through which Penone’s art finds expression: leaves, porcelain, thorns, marble and leather. Within the Old Palace, a display area will be dedicated to models, studies, drawings, photographs and preparatory sketches. As part of the exhibition, visitors will also be able to admire monumental outdoor works such as Albero folgorato and Idee di pietra, the permanent installation recently installed at the Old Port in Doha.

‘Il mio vedere futuro - My Future Vision I & II’ both draw from the artist's 1970 performance ‘Rovesciare i propri occhi (Reversing One’s Eyes)’, which explored perception and the limits of vision, revealing what exists beyond our immediate senses.
The editions reflect Penone's enduring focus on the relationship between humans and nature, and the unseen forces that shape perception.

Each print is individually signed, numbered, and titled by hand in Italian. The piece also arrives with a signed certificate of authenticity.

For the exhibition The Reflection of Bronze (Il Riflesso del bronzo), at Gagosian Gallery in New York, Giuseppe Penone explores the expressive and conceptual potential of bronze, and its property of capturing moments or contacts in three dimensions and rendering them permanent over time. The exhibition features previously unseen works, such as pieces from the Clepsydra series which, in bronze, continue the artist's exploration of debarked trees begun in 1969, and materials used by Penone for the first time, such as cork, with which the artist covers the gallery walls to evoke the myth of Marsyas. Curated by Adam D. Weinberg, the exhibition will be open from 22 April to 2 July 2026.

From April 3 at the Serpentine Galleries in London, it will be possible to visit Thoughts in the Roots, the most comprehensive institutional exhibition of Penone in the United Kingdom, curated by Claude Adjil and Hans Ulrich Obrist with Alexa Chow. The exhibition, featuring works from 1969 to the present, extends into the surrounding Kensington Park with the installation of three bronze trees. Conceived by the artist in order to create, between indoors and outdoors, two integrated gardens, Thoughts in the Roots is also a sensory journey in which the scent of the leaves of Respirare l’ombra and the flagrancy of the resin in the hollow trunk of Spazio di luce will allow the space of the Serpentine South to be perceived in continuum with the nature of the park.
The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue with Penone's previously unpublished drawings and “Albero folgorato,” a limited edition of 40 copies numbered and signed by the artist.
